Press Releases, and Upcoming Events MotherWoman, Inc, needs to raise a total of $1,800.00 by the end of June, 2007 to fund its Postpartum Stress Support Group for the summer months of July-August, 2007. MotherWoman's Postpartum Stress Support Group is the ONLY support group specifically for mothers experiencing postpartum stress, depression and anxiety in Western Masachusetts West of Worcester and North of Hartford. "This is not the same as lacking funding for a summer class on singing with your baby," says Executive Director Melanie DeSilva. "There could be severe consequences if this group does not run for eight weeks. Postpartum stress, depression and anxiety do not take summer vacation. Women in the community have come to count on this group for their emotional and physical support and sometimes survival. This group is literally saving lives." MotherWoman has the funding it needs to fund this group from September-December, 2007, and is aggressively seeking permanent funding to continue the group beyond 2007. "It costs $225.00 per week to run the Postpartum Stress group. a gift of $225 would fund the group for one week, said Program Director and the group's co-facilitator Annette Cycon, LISCW. "A gift at the $175 would pay for two experienced counselors to run the group for 1 week. A gift at the $50 level would pay for two childcare providers for one week. A gift at any level would make a world of difference to mothers and children in the Pioneer Valley who rely on this group."
