Press Releases, and Upcoming Events MotherWoman has named Melanie DeSilva as its new Executive Director. Mother of two and a graduate of MotherWoman's programs, Ms. DeSilva brings the leadership and passion necessary to guide MotherWoman into a new phase of growth. Ms. DeSilva has a Masters in Communication from UMASS, Amherst, and professional a background in non-profit and business administration. DeSilva served as Coordinator for Health Care Development and Director of Programs at a Connecticut non-profit, and co-founded and co-owned a childbirth education business in Connecticut. Prior to being named as Executive Director, DeSilva served as Administrative Director for MotherWoman. "We are thrilled that we have someone of such high quality to lead MotherWoman into the future," stated MotherWoman Co-founder Annette Cycon. "MotherWoman is now in the position to blossom as an organization, financially and programmatically. As MotherWoman becomes stronger so will the voices of mothers all across the Valley." "My goal is to build MotherWoman into a powerful, effective, regional mother's support and advocacy organization. This will require the cultivation of strong community partnerships and coalitions, a strong sustainable base of funding, and grassroots support. I believe that with thousands of mothers in the Pioneer Valley who want what we offer, we can only succeed." |
