Press Releases, and Upcoming Events AMHERST, MA ?- MotherWoman and its five major community collaborators are proud to announce the start of the Greenfield MotherWoman Group, which will be held every Thursday morning from 10:30-12 starting September 27 at the Academy of Early Learning at North Parish- Greenfield?s Public Pre-school- 1 Place Terrace, Greenfield, MA 01301. The group will follow the Greenfield Public School calendar, and will not be held during school vacations or on snow days. The Greenfield MotherWoman Group is open to all mothers with children of all ages. Free snacks will be provided. There is currently no childcare for this group. Funding and volunteers are being sought. Children up to age 2 years can stay with mothers in the group space. The Greenfield MotherWoman Group provides an opportunity for mothers to discuss the stress, adjustment to, and complexities of motherhood in a supportive group environment based on mutual respect and non-judgment. MotherWoman Groups are designed so that mothers feel heard, valued, understood, nurtured & energized. This is a welcoming place for mothers experiencing ?baby blues?, postpartum stress, depression and anxiety. Community Collaborators include: The Birthplace at Franklin Medical Center, Greenfield Community College Women?s Resource Center, Greenfield Public Schools, Greenfield Women?s Resource Center, and New England Learning Center for Women in Transition (NELCWIT). ?We are honored to have the opportunity to serve mothers in the Greenfield area, and to be working with such an extraordinary group of women?s organizations to make this happen,? stated Executive Director Melanie DeSilva. ?MotherWoman groups are completely unique in that they are mother-centered. We focus on mothers with the belief that when mothers are strong and healthy, families and communities are strong and healthy.? |
