"I believe in the work of MotherWoman because I believe in advocating for social and political change in areas where our daily lives and families are crucially affected. MotherWoman inspires me, as a woman, individual, and possible future mother, to support the moms and families in my community. This becomes even more possible working with such a powerhouse of strong women - the MotherWoman staff, Board members, and community. My fears about becoming a mother in our society are recognized here, and I know I am not alone." Abby Baines, MLS, is a passionate organizer and librarian/archivist by trade. She brings her enthusiasm and fascination of technology to the MotherWoman team, coordinating office technologies, social media, and administrative/IT support. Baines holds a Bachelors degree cum laude in Communication and Psychology from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, and a Masters degree in Library and Information Science from Simmons College, specializing in digital archives and records management. Baines also works in Electronic Reserves at the W. E. B. Du Bois Library, UMass Amherst. She has worked with non-profit organizations in the valley for over ten years. |
